GOOGLE AdCamp

Online advertising is at the core of Google’sbusiness and we’re thrilled to share the magic of our platforms with university students through Google AdCamp.
AdCamp offers a collaborative curriculum focused on Google’s advertising sales and services operations, an overview of Google’s ad products and insight into the industry.
Up to 70 current university students will be selected to participate in an all-expense-paid AdCamp experience at one of Google’s offices. Participants will get the opportunity to meet with
Googlers and interns compete in a case competition, participate in social activities and get an inside look into helping small and medium businesses thrive.

Eligibility:
Students must:
Be currently enrolled in a 4-year BA/BS program, in any major, at a university in the same country/region of the session to which they are applying.
Be a current undergraduate student; current graduation year requirements vary by region.
Demonstrate academic excellence and an interest in online advertising sales and services (e.g. have taken courses in advertising and/or have experience within the industry).
Students who are admitted to the BOLD 2015 internship program will not be eligible to participate in AdCamp. (United States and Australia/New Zealand sessions only)
Be able to provide proof of work authorization in the same country/region of the session to which they are applying. (Europe, Middle East and Africa only)
EU citizens require a valid passport or national ID. Non-EU citizens require a passport valid until at least 6 months after the event. If a visa is required, Google can provide a letter for a participant to engage in the administrative process.

The SUG Executives on a Familiarization Visit

New Prices for UNN Shuttle within and outside Campus

Information reaching us fron the Office of the Director of Transport has it that there is a review in the transport fair for UNN Shuttles within and outside the campus.
The new prices were agreed upon during a meeting between representatives of UNN Shuttle Operators and the Director of Transport. To this effect, a circular has been distributed to appropriate quarters as these new rates take effect immediately.
Below is the content of the circular:
"Owing especially to fluctuation in the price of petroleum products and other critical issues within and outside the campus, below is the new rate for UNN Shuttle within and outside the campus:
* Nsukka Park to the University-
Buses - N40.00
Taxis - N50.00
* Within the Campus:
Buses - N20.00
Taxis - N30.00
Exceptions to the above stated rates include:
* Second Gate directly to Faculty of Agricultural Sciences/Awolowo Hall (N30.00)
*Taxis from Second Gate to ICT (N40.00).
THIS AGREEMENT IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE AS SOON AS THE NEED ARISES OWING TO THE CIRCUMSTANCES THAT LET TO IT AT FIRST."

UNN GRADUATE AWAITING NYSC CALL-UP MURDERED IN UGHELLI

A 32-year-old University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) Mechanical Engineer graduate awaiting his posting for the mandatory one year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mr. Eugine Ujayikre Ighobesuvwo, was on Tuesday night reportedly murdered in cold blood by unknown persons in his one-room apartment at No. 20, 'B' Otobo Street, Ughelli, Delta State.
An eyewitness said that the hoodlums numbering over 10 surrounded the compound between 12.00 and 1.00 o'clock mid night, smashed the door leading to Eugine's apartment with their legs and other dangerous instruments. The hoodlums were said have been armed also with gun "and woke him up from the bed and as he was begging them not to terminate his life, they ordered him to lie down stack naked, and at a very close range blew his head open with a gun". Late Eugine was seen lying in a pool of his own blood dead. Some expended empty cartridges were seen on the floor beside his corpse. Other items found there include

SUG HALF HOUR

SUG HALF HOUR on Lion fm, every Saturday Morning @9:30 O'clock.

An interactive session organized by the Office of the Information
Officer, SUG, UNN.
Starting from this Saturday, 25th April, 2015, the programme will run
weekly, featuring staff and students from the University. From the SUG
Executives, to the Members of the House of Representatives, Senate, to
members of staff of the university. This is an opportunity to speak
directly to these persons, asking questions, tabling your complaints,
voicing your criticisms, etc. directly to them, and getting answers as
promptly as possible.
Keep a date with us every Saturday, 9:30am on Lion fm, 91.1 and you
will be glad you did.

RESTRICTION IN THE MOVEMENT OF SHUTTLES

This is to inform all students, staff and occupants of the university
community that there will be restrictions on the movement of shuttles
on Saturday, 25th April, 2015 between 10:00am and 12:00noon. This is
the time scheduled for a very important meeting of all the UNN Shuttle
operators with the SUG Director of Transport, Comr. Okoronkwo, Elendu
D.
Important matters concerning students' welfare will be discussed in
this meeting, and so to ensure maximum participation, all shuttle
operators have been asked to be off the road within this time frame.

You must have heard of the 2015 Entrepreneurship Week slated to hold
on Wednesday, April 22nd and Thursday, April 23rd, 2015 at Ekpo
Convocation Arena by 11:00am.

The new information on this is that, with the approval of the Vice
Chancellor, the programme is MANDATORY for all students that
registered for CED 341 course. To this effect, a circular has been
sent across to all departments and faculties to ensure that all those
concerned receive the information. Below is an excerpt of the letter:

"With the approval of the Vice Chancellor, University of Nigeria, I
have the pleasure to cordially invite you to the 2015 Students'
Entrepreneurship Week… We are optimistic that you will exhibit some of
your entrepreneurial activities and skills as well as participate
actively in this year's event. In addition, it is mandatory for all
students that have registered for CED 341 course to attend the two-day
programme."

Highlights of the event include:
A showcase of entrepreneurs who have projected entrepreneurship to a
wider society as well as contributed positively to views and
aspirations of the private-public partnership
Presentation of "Pillar of Entrepreneurship" awards to entrepreneurs
with proven zeal for excellence and passion for industry and
entrepreneurship
Exhibition of products and services from departments and students of
the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
To be part of this event, you are hereby encouraged to register with
the Centre on or before the date of the event. Registration for
exhibitors is meant to end on Friday, April 17th, 2015. However, as at
the time of filling this report, it was not clear if there is any
change yet in this date. As soon as we confirm that, we will give you
the details.

The Implementation Committee on Environment wishes to draw the attention of the University Community to the unwholesome attitude of some members of the community who defecate in small bushes and obscure corners within the campus. This attitude is shameful, disgraceful and embarrassing to the University. Regrettably, it has been carried on Facebook and published in some Nigerian Newspapers thereby making mockery of the highly esteemed mottoe of the University - 'To Restore the Dignity of Man'.

2014/2015 POSTGRADUATE ADMISSIONS (Third Supplementary List)

The University of Nigeria hereby publishes the 2014/2015 Postgraduate Admissions (Third Supplementary List).
The successful candidates on this list as well as those on earlier publications are required to pay acceptance fee of N25,000 (twenty five thousand naira) only and print their acceptance fee receipt and admission letter from the School Portal (unnportal.unn.edu.ng).
(a) Generate School fees payment invoice;
(b) Make the payment via any other bank that has e-Tranzact platforms;
(c) Return to the web and print admission letter;
(d) Print the particulars of admission and complete the registration of courses/programmes online.
(e) Proceed to School of Postgraduate Studies Nsukka/Enugu Campuses with original credentials for verification.

2015 Students' Entrepreneurship Week

The Centre for Entrepreneurship and Development Research is organizing Students Entrepreneurship week.
The Centre was the first to organize the Student Entrepreneurship Summit in 2011. This year’s student entrepreneurship week will serve as motivation to students towards changing their mindset to job creators instead of job seekers. The proposed entrepreneurship week is expected to line up programmes and events such as; talks, lectures, exhibition and competition from within and outside the university.
 This students’ entrepreneurship week has a theme tagged: “Graduates’ Self Employment, A Veritable Tool for Nation Building”. The event will showcase outstanding entrepreneurs who have projected entrepreneurship to a wider society as well as contributed positively to views and aspiration of the private – public partnership, job creation and friends of the students. In addition, in recognition of their roles within and outside Nigeria in terms of zeal for excellence and passion for industry and entrepreneurship the Centre will be presenting an award tagged “Pillar of South East Entrepreneurship” on that day to the deserving invitees.
The duration for this year’s entrepreneurship week is three days. The main events in the specific days are as follows:
