2nd Annual NHEF Essay Competition

This is to announce the Second Edition of the NIGERIA HIGHER EDUCATION FOUNDATION annual Essay Competition.

Essay Topics
1.    ?The educated differ from the uneducated as much as the living from the dead?-Aristotle. Discuss the validity of this statement.
2.    Explore the relationship between a developed higher education sector and long-term economic growth?
3.    What is the role/function of innovation versus tradition in Nigeria?s development?

Eligibility Requirements
All students enrolled in their penultimate year at any NHEF Partner University are qualified to participate in the essay contest.
* NHEF Partner Universities include
-    Ahmadu Bello University,
-    Bayero University,
-    University of Ibadan,
-    University of Nigeria, Nsukka and
-    University of Port Harcourt

Submission Essay Criteria & Procedure
All essays must comply with the following contest rules before submission:
?    No literary form other than an essay will be accepted.
?    Each piece of writing must reflect the contestant?s ability to explore and discuss ideas and ethical concepts.
?    Essay must demonstrate the conduct of research and a sufficiently detailed summary.
?    Essays must be 2000 words in length, double-spaced, (12pt Times New Roman), and numbered pages with one-inch margins excluding bibliography & title page.
?    Each essay must include a Title Page, a Bibliography and a scanned copy of the contestant?s current student ID. The student?s registration ID Number (Matric Number) must appear at the header section of each page.
?    Entries must be submitted in Microsoft Word or PDF format.
?    References in the essay should be included and clearly identified.
?    All entries must be submitted via e-mail to essay@thenhef.org by 11:59 p.m. (WAT) on March 31st, 2016.
Contest Prizes
?    The Grand prize winner of the 2016 Essay Competition will be awarded a cash prize of N100,000.00 with a year of paid tuition.
?    First runner-up will be awarded a cash prize of N75,000.00 with a year of paid tuition.
?    Second runner-up will be awarded N50,000.00 with a year of paid tuition.

Note: Enrollment will be verified with the University?s registrar.
Disclaimer: Submitted essays will become the property of the NHEF. The NHEF may reprint the essays in its mediums and publications. Appropriate citations will be given to all the writers.
*Students enrolled in their penultimate year are third year undergraduates of a 4-year degree program or Fourth year undergraduates of a 5-year degree program. NHEF will verify enrollment of each contestant with the university registrar.

UPDATE: Post-West African University Games (WAUG)

 22nd February, 2016.

To University Community,
West African University Games (WAUG) hosted by the University of Nigeria was very successful, and it has come and gone. It was another success story for the University.
Attention has been drawn that certain individuals/Organizations that participated in one way or the other and are entitled to some remuneration for services rendered still have outstanding allowance/bills to be settled.
To enable us prepare for the final report we want to invite ALL with outstanding bills/allowances from the Game to prepare and submit the hardcopy of your claims at University of Nigeria Alumni Office not later than Monday 7th March, 2016.
Please note that any outstanding bills/allowances without supporting documents or that is not submitted before the above mentioned date may not be considered.

The colourful event took place at UBA Hall of Fame, University of Nigeria, Nsukka with dignitaries from within and outside the university community who came to either be inducted or installed, awarded or celebrate with the celebrants. A rendition was given by Miss. Agu Blessing from Music Department. After this, the Dean, Student Affairs Department, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Prof. P. A. Akah was given an Award of Professional Service by the President of the Student Union Government of the university, Comr. Orji Peter Ekene after the Vice President of Student Union Government, Comr. Nebo Joy Chinaza gave the citation of the Dean.
