UNIVERSITY IDENTITY AND LIBRARY CARDS

Please if you have not collected your University Identity card or Library Card, do well to visit the ICT Centre at Access Bank opposite Faculty of Engineering to pick yours as soon as possible.

Those who are still in school have a better chance at getting theirs now that there are not too many persons going to the centre for it. So do well to go pick yours before the queue increases again.

COMR. DIKE JOSHUA IS A YEAR OLDER TODAY

Today marks the remembrance of the birth of a friend, a brother and a fellow Comrade in the Aluta Struggle. Rising from his class, he became the Welfare Officer of the Student Union Government, University of Nigeria, Nsukka. During his tenure, I did the much I could to trouble him with complaints and requests from students around me, yet he never complained. Even the day I had to wake him very early in the morning to deal with a leaking reservoir in Alvan hostel, his response was calm and friendly, "I have made the necessary calls and it will be taken care of soon."

Today he sits at the helms of affairs at Nigerian University Engineering Students Association, UNN Chapter haven emerged victorious at the first ever electronic voting in the university.

You have shown your worth as a true representative of the students. May the lives you have touched for good ever speak for you, and may the good Lord continue to strengthen and protect you till you have fulfilled your destiny.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY COMRADE DIKE JOSHUA

President,

FOR THE RECORDS. Re: SUG ELECT-INFO MANAGER

My attention has been drawn to the misconception raised by my last picture update on social networks which has the following words attached to my name (SUG ELECT-INFO MANAGER). While the post was aimed at encouraging my numerous readers and fans, especially the Lions and Lionesses whom we have been called to serve to remain consistent in what they do and are known for (just as I have been consistent with keeping you informed), many misunderstood the designation therein.

HERE ARE THE FACTS:
1.    SUG ELECT-INFO MANAGER is only a short form of SUG ELECTRONIC INFORMATION MANAGER which has been my designation by the appointment of the Information Officer since February 2015. As the Electronic Information Manager, I have worked hard to ensure that students (old, new and prospective) are kept up to date, and timely and authentic information is disseminated as often as possible.
2.    Unfortunately, I made the post some days after we attended the screening exercise for candidates interested in the forthcoming SUG elections. Thus, some persons understood it as meaning that I have been screened or cleared unopposed. This is not so. The results of the screening have not been published, and until it is, no one has the right to make any publication or presume a foreknowledge of its outcome. I know these rules and regulations guiding the electoral process, and as a law-abiding student of the university who also understands the consequences, I will not in any way flout them.
3.    Since my appointment by the Information Officer, I have attached the following to my posts as a means of authentication.
?Comr. Okeke Chibueze
 Manager,
 Electronic Information,
 SUG, UNN?
Thus, I did not think it wrong seeing how the designer of the picture rearranged it. However, considering the dust it has thus far raised, I wish to sincerely apologize. All inconveniences are regretted.
4.    Through the inspiration of friends and well-wishers, I have come up with a hashtag which I will henceforth attach to my posts as a means of authenticating them, and as an alternative to my designation. It is:
?Comr. Okeke Chibueze
#Keeping_You_Informed!!!?
Subsequent posts will either carry this hashtag or my designation which will henceforth be for very official posts.
I sincerely appreciate all who reacted to this error positively or negatively. All these help us serve you better.

SPEECH BY THE VICE CHANCELLOR, PROFESSOR BENJAMIN CHUKWUMA OZUMBA, DURING THE LAUNCHING OF THE E-MARKET PLACE PROJECT ON TUESDAY,FEBRUARY 23RD, 2016 AT THE PRINCESS ALEXANDRA AUDITORIUM

Protocol

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the official launching of e-Market place project here at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. This is the first of its kind in the history of our great University and it is in line with our vision of widening the magnitude of our interactions with the business community within and outside the University.

The project is thus geared towards harmonizing and harnessing the financial benefits of all operated businesses, market spaces and facilities within the University, through an online electronic platform.

Included in this project are biometric identity cards which will be issued to all traders on site to improve security and effective monitoring of people who are engaged in various types of businesses on our site.

The project is aimed at:

  1. Creating and Managing an e-Market platform that will host the details of all University commercial facilities/spaces and their operators
  2. Issuing biometric identity cards for business operators on the three campuses of the University.
  3. Determining appropriate levels of charges and rents to optimize University Income
  4. Registering all businesses with regularized rent and charges
  5. Issuing appropriate tenancy agreements to support above
  6. Liaising with and providing relevant information to the University security Department
  7. Liaising with the bursary Department to ensure that all accruable revenues are properly paid into designated University account

I would like to emphasize that all commercial facilities including rented spaces belong to the University and therefore it is essential that all occupants of these spaces are fully registered in the platform.

With the zeal to achieve these objectives, a committee of 11 members was formed from different Units and Departments of the University to oversee the successful implementation of this project.

Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, it is now my pleasure to declare open this great innovation of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. This innovative project, e-Market Place is guaranteed to serve our students, our staff, the nearby community and the general public.

The launching of this project will set another pace for future ideas and innovations that will make the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, one of the best Universities in the world.

Thank You and God bless.

Professor Benjamin Chukwuma Ozumba

Vice-Chancellor
