FRESHERS' DINNER WITH THE SUG: D-DAY UPDATE

I don't think its necessary to make this post too long or official.
I just want to remind us what we already know about the event, things we must take to heart so as not to miss out big time.
1. Today, Nov. 4 is the day, 4:00pm is the time, Ekpo Ref is the venue.
2. Registration starts at 3:00pm prompt.
3. Ushers and other officiating personnel will be on ground before 2:00pm
4. The event is strictly for Freshers except for SUG Officials who have been duly and specifically invited.
5. All freshers MUST come with any official form of identity bearing their details and clear picture.
6. Get your IVs from your class rep. If you don't get yours before the time, don't panic. Come to the venue with your means of identification and you will be  well attended to.
7. Even with your ticket, you will not be granted entrance without a means of identification
8. FREEDOM IN OUR BONES, ROAR NEWSLETTER, SUG ANKARA and other useful publications will be on sales at the event. So you want to have your pockets prepared and not just your belly and your hearts.

ARMED FORCES STUDENTS FORUM MEET WITH THE SUG

Yesterday, November 2, 2016, ended on a very delightful note for the Students' Union Government as representatives of the Armed Forces Students Forum (AFSF) met with officials of the Union and promised to work with, not just the SUG but with the university authority to ensure that security on campus is given utmost priority. According to the representatives, the forum has been at its best in the area of protecting fellow students as much as they can, and have deemed it fit and necessary to officially present themselves to the Union as a student body on campus.
While promising that no student will under their watch be intimidated either by their men or any other, they also decried the indiscriminate use of military kits by non-military students. According to them, such things have various effects both on the defaulting persons and on their noble profession. These effects include:
1. Giving a bad name to the armed forces as most of those who use these kits perpetrate crimes with them.
2. It is impersonation which is punishable by law.
3. Whoever uses these kits endangers himself as men on military outfits are easy targets to criminals like robbers when they attack.
They therefore appealed to the general public, especially students of the university, to desist from such acts as those who continue therein are doing so at their own risk.

IMPORTANT UPDATE ON FIRST YEAR DINNER

IMPORTANT UPDATE ON FIRST YEAR DINNER

TO ALL FRESHERS:

We understand and appreciate your anticipation towards this event which is of great importance to us. In furtherance of our preparations for the event, we have produced enough tickets to go round for all freshers. We therefore urge you to contact your class rep to get yours before the date for the program.

NOTE:
Please note that you must come with a form of identity to the event venue. This form of identity must be that of the university. For instance, an identity card, either departmental, faculty, university or any other attached to the university.
If you do not have your any of these, come with a document printed from the university portal which has your picture and details. Either your admission letter, school fees receipt or any other document.
ON NO ACCOUNT WILL ANY STUDENT BE ALLOWED IN WITHOUT PROPER IDENTIFICATION
Secondly, the time for the program is 4:00pm prompt and therefore, registration starts at 3:00pm dot. The Local Organizing Committee reserves the right to stop registration at any time after 4:00pm and anyone not registered forfeits the right to entrance into the event, even with your ticket. Thus, we encourage you to keep to time.

If you are not able to get a ticket before the day, do not be discouraged. Come to the venue with your source of identity and you will be issued a ticket after verifications.

These tickets are strictly for freshers only and they are to be distributed free of charge. Any form of disobedience to these guidelines will not be tolerated.
